Christmas Tree Celebration

As it’s Christmas Day tomorrow, I thought I’d publish this weeks blog a day early – I thought you might all be a bit busy tomorrow!

Let me start by saying a very happy Christmas to one and all!

I thought we’d get into the Christmas spirit with some Christmas trees.

Local Christmas Tree Festival

We are lucky enough to have had another Christmas tree festival at our local church.

As I’ve mentioned before it used to be held inside the church, but Covid moved it outside and that’s where it’s stayed. It’s so much more atmospheric in the churchyard and the frost just added to it.

Although we didn’t spend as much time as we usual do, as it was absolutely freezing!

Luckily there was chance to have a quick warm up inside where there were refreshments available, a craft stall and raffle.

Local community groups, businesses and some individuals decorate the trees. Each tree is numbered and inside is where you can vote for your favourite by putting money into jam jars with the same number.

Its all in aid of local charities, so a worthy cause indeed, and well worth getting cold for!

After a brisk walk home, lighting the log burner and having our first Sherry of Christmas, we were soon warmed through.

Christmas Tree Roots

Back in my home village they have also put on a good display. The Catholic, Methodist, and Church of England, churches all have lovely Christmas trees welcoming you in. What an irresistible photo opportunity!

I hope tomorrow you are spending Christmas how you choose, as we all have different ways of celebrating.

So however you are spending Christmas Day, let’s remember with affection ‘Christmas past’, make the most of ‘Christmas present’ and look forward to ‘Christmas future’.

Stay safe and Happy Christmas everyone.
