Garden Diary – Blue skies at last – but dragons on the horizon!

There I was lapping up the good weather, we were having sunshine and blue skies at last!

The garden at its fullest, bursting with colour, the insects finally appearing in larger numbers, although still not as many as usual, but getting better.

We were at the beginning of maximum harvest season and I’d already defrosted one of the freezers in readiness for all the cooking sessions ahead. And then….

On Tuesday 30th July I fell, whilst walking backwards carrying a radiator. Now this might sound like a funny thing to be doing, but not at our house! After spending all those years landscaping the garden we are finally getting on with the house, well we were!

Seven hours in A&E later, I was found to have two fractured vertebrae, so no gardening (or anything for that matter) for the next few weeks.
As there always has to be a positive, it’s having time to sit and watch the wildlife, and look what emerged from the pond!

First time growing tomato ‘Indigo Pear’ 🍅💜🧡
Absolutely delicious 😋
They start off dark purple & turn orange.
They look good & taste good 🌿

I grew these ‘Buena Mulata’ purple chillies for the first time last year & I flippin love them 💜🌿
They are the perfect heat for me 🌶️
You can feel the heat without burning your mouth out 🥵

There’s been no garden posts as I’ve had a nasty fall & managed to fracture 2 vertebrae! Ouch!
Still in pain, I’m at least now sitting outside ’looking’ at the garden, trying not to be frustrated & enjoy what surrounds me & grateful I will make a full recovery 🙏 #flowersonfriday

It took a while but the garden finally has plenty of butterflies, 🦋 although like the bees there are not as many as usual.
