Garden Diary – Cherry blossom means, fruit’s on the way!
This is the week when the apple and cherry blossom came out fully. Even more exciting though, I planted the tomatoes in the greenhouse! I love that day, but obviously not quite as much as the day the first fruit ripens…
Even more tulip varieties started to bloom and the foliage is bushing up in the borders full of the promise of what’s to come.
It’s hard not to think of spring as the best season of all, as the garden literally comes back to life. Including a pieris shrub that we thought we may have killed by moving it, but hey presto, it’s survived!
Talking of which, the tadpoles broke free from their jellied frogspawn and began to explore life in their new home.
And I caught a second species of butterfly on camera, a ‘peacock’. There were a few in the garden as well as the dreaded cabbage white. The under gardener did still rescue one of the cabbage munchers out of the greenhouse before shutting the door for the night.
I am tolerant of some damage to plants and crops, as all the wildlife in the garden plays it’s part, even if it’s just to provide food for others. The circle of life!

The frogspawn has now all turned into wriggling tadpoles. Every year this takes me back to 7 yrs old & my marvellous teacher who took us pond dipping & sparked my obsession with getting my own pond #Inspirationalteachers #pond #tadpoles

Anyone for raspberry ripple?
I always used to buy single coloured tulips but since I’ve discovered bi-coloured I’m hooked! #FlowersOnFriday #tulips #tulip #Flowers

This Pieris ‘forest flame’ was here in the garden when we arrived. 2 yrs ago we moved it & last year it showed its unhappiness loosing many branches, luckily with some TLC this year it’s looking much happier

A couple of months on from sowing the tomatoes, pricking them out, & potting them on, they have finally gone into the ground. I can now sit back & watch them romp away #tomatoplants #tomatoseason #kitchengarden
