Garden Diary – Spring has sprung!
I’m finally back with you after a little break.
As it was winter you haven’t missed much, although with this exceptional weather we’ve been having, I have found myself outside gardening earlier than usual.
The main job that’s been going on is seed sowing, that I started back in January with my chillies.
After a few weeks I moved onto the tomatoes, then the cucumbers and courgettes.
As I’ve gradually pricked them all out into their own little pots, they have been spilling out of the window sill into the room. It was starting to feel like we were living in a greenhouse!
Despite the lovely weather, we were still having frosts and I didn’t dare risk putting them into the ‘actual’ greenhouse.
Luckily last week it was finally safe to move them, and so we got our lounge back.
We are happier and they clearly are too, as in just one week they’ve come on in leaps and bounds!
The borders are colouring up nicely with new blooms every day, which of course brings all the wildlife flooding in. I was especially pleased to have had the first butterfly in the garden this week, an excellent start after worrying last year about how few I saw.
The frogs returned for their annual mating activities, and the frogspawn is already wriggling. As usual I have spent lots of happy time sat by them, having a little chat. As I’ve said in one of my posts, it is hard to put over to you, quite how much pleasure they give me.
The tulips are coming up in the pots that the pansies have performed well in all winter and the garden is up and running once more. I do love this time of year when everything is fresh and perfect.

I’m so relieved to have got the seedlings into the greenhouse. The window sills were full to bursting. I may have sown a few too many….. 😬🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱

There is a predominance of yellow at this time of year, mainly from the Narcissi family, but also primulas & marsh marigolds 🌿💛🌼💛🌿

Please say hello to some of my pond friends 🦎🐸
I can’t begin to tell you how relaxed I feel when sitting (usually on the floor) next to my pond talking to these creatures. And I’m sure the frogs understand me 🐸❤️

From my little friends and me, happy gardening.
